Green Tea Benefits — No More Bad Breath!
Okay, if you’ve only read a few entries here you already know about green tea benefits on just about every aspect of our health. But a cure for bad breath?? Who would have thought?
Bad breath is mainly a result of sulfur compounds that are created when the bacteria in our mouths breaks down proteins. All of the things we normally try to disguise bad breath with like sugarless gum, breath mints and even parsley oil products are not effective in either deodorizing, breaking down these compounds or stopping their formation. Toothpaste removes the odor but doesn’t cut the production of the resulting sticky substances.
But amazingly enough, green tea powder did both thanks to the polyphenols in tea that also have the beneficial antioxidant properties.
In a laboratory study various kinds of bacteria, including those that cause strep throat and tooth decay, were mixed with green tea extracts. The results were that green tea was effective at fighting bacteria by inhibiting their growth.
So now you can end your dinner with a cup of green tea or, even better, end your meal with a delicious green tea ice cream — just be sure to have the real thing, not the artificially flavored stuff.
